Unwind, learn new skills and explore!
Weaving on our 85 year old Hattersley loom and wooden Glimakra floor loom, other crafts, island exploration and relaxation

- self-catering accommodation provided including full use of sauna (breakfast and dinner not included),
- lunches of homemade soup, bread and cake are included on days at the studio
- transport to and from accommodation/studio and on arrival/departure included and excursions out
- maximum four guests on any retreat, if booking solo please be aware the rooms and bathroom are shared
- for larger groups please contact to discuss booking other nearby accommodation too


7 Day Retreats
Fully immerse yourself
Day 1 Arrival; collection from ferry or airport terminal and settle into accomodation
Day 2;
Learn how we set up the loom to weave a new tweed. Discuss how to design a tweed and the colour selection. Watch while we wind the warping frame and learn how to make the all important cross. Learn how to chain off and have a go at creating the chain.

Day 3;
Wind the new warp onto the loom and then learn how to tie-in. With 696 knots there's plenty of practice!​ Start learning how to weave depending on how long the tying-in takes

Day 4;
Take turns weaving on the Hattersley loom and spend some time with the Glimakra loom, discuss how we set it up, then try out weaving. Group can be split between the looms
​
Day 5; Excursion day! Tailored to where the guests want to visit or I can suggest a tour based on interests. You could visit other weavers, the Harris Gin Distillery, Callanish Stones etc.

​Day 6;
Take turns weaving on the Hattersley​ and try out other craft activities of choice e.g. sewing/spinning etc.
Hand finish some of the tweed woven by the guests and set to dry!​
​
Day 7;
Morning; Create a keepsake with the tweed you wove!
Afternoon; downtime or activity as per guests wishes

Day 8; transport back to ferry or airport ​

4 Day Retreats
Weaving and Creating

Morning; Discuss how we set up the Hattersley loom and how we design our tweeds. Take turns learning how to weave on the Hattersley loom!

Afternoon; spend some time with the Glimakra loom, discuss how we set it up, then try out weaving.

Day 3;
Take turns weaving on the Hattersley/ Glimakra or doing another craft of your choice ​

​Day 4;
Morning; Excursion - tailored to where the guests want to visit or I can suggest a tour based on interests. You could visit other weavers, the Harris Gin Distillery, Callanish Stones etc.

Afternoon; take turns weaving on the Hattersley, doing another craft activity or downtime

Morning; Optional Excursion, weaving or other craft activity

Take a piece of the tweed you wove on the Hattersley home with you with instructions how to hand-finish it at home

Accomodation
Tweedy comfort!
Bedroom 1; downstairs, with either a king-size bed or two twin beds, TV, chest of drawers, wardrobe, feature decorative fireplace and original artworks

Bedroom 2; upstairs, with two twin beds, chest of drawers and hanging hooks, antique furniture and original artworks
​
Living room; upstairs, with a feature decorative fireplace, comfy three seater couch, armchair, TV, upcycled loom beam lamp, desk and chair, original artworks and plenty of textiles!
​
Stairs; upcycled driftwood light feature, window seat for cosy reading nook
​
Kitchen/Diner; four seater dining table with feature driftwood light fixture, upcycled vintage sideboard kitchen unit, antique furniture, induction hob, oven, sink, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, window seat and lots of textiles and art everywhere!
​
Bathroom; downstairs, walk-in shower, toilet, sink, freestanding bath, heated lit-up mirror, handmade accessories and art
​
Sauna room; a four person sauna with changing area and additional shower! (separate entrance to main house)
​
Utility room; washing machine, tumble dryer, drying rack, iron / ironing board, sink (separate entrance to main house)
